Self-Drive Safaris

We started our business running self-drive safaris for clients with an adventurous spirit who wanted to see Kenya at their own pace. We offer two types of self-drive safari:

  • Guided Self-Drive Safaris
  • Non Guided Self-Drive Safaris

Guided Self-Drive Safaris are for those who want the challenge or piloting a four wheel drive through the African Bush taking comfort from the fact that we are with you every kilometre of the way. We ensure that you do not get too lost and pull you out if you get stuck!.

We let you take the lead as we navigate remote roads deep in the bush maintaining contact via VHF radios. For off-road/four wheel drive enthusiasts this is a fantastic way to see Kenya.

Full Instruction is given, at our base in The Maasai Mara, on the basics of driving a four wheel drive vehicle and safe conduct in the bush. On safari our convoy is fully prepared for bush travel with spare wheels, high lift jacks, full tool kit, VHF Radios, satellite and mobile telephones, first aid and camping equipment.

Non-Guide, Self-Drive Safaris are another step towards fully independent travel. Although we plan your itinerary and equip you with a vehicle and all the equipment you need, you will be on your own. The pace at which you travel is determined by how quickly you wish to drive and the requirement to reach your accommodation/campsite for the night. Each vehicle is fully prepared for bush travel and comes equipped with enough camping equipment for your party as well as GPS, maps, radio and satellite and mobile telephone.

The Cost of both of these safaris is determined by where you go, which accommodation you use and the size of the party. The fixed basic costs are:

  • £185 per day for Guided Self-Drive (inclusive of vehicle, guide with vehicle and equipment)
  • £115 per day for the Self-Drive Safari (hire of fully equipped vehicle)

These are the costs to the party not the per person costs.

Planning your safari is easy. We are here to provide help and guidance. Remember, we live in Kenya and we know the roads you will travel and the places that you will visit.
