Samatian Island, Lake Baringo

Set in centre of Lake Baringo with breathtaking views of the Rift Valley, Samatian Island is an exclusive retreat offering the perfect mid-safari break. Samatian Island is located approximately 200km to the North West of our base in Naivasha on a reasonably good tarmac road. From the mainland a 30 minute boat ride takes you to the island.

From Samatian you can take boat trips to observe Baringo's many inhabitants including crocodiles, hippos and the colourful array of birdlife. You will also be able to observe the local Njemps fishermen who gain a living from the water of this beautiful lake.

The island has an open-plan family chalet with two double rooms with an ensuite bathroom, private verandah and sitting room. Of the threes additional double bandas, two feature a uniquely designed open-air bathrooms built into the cliff edge, overlooking the lake. The dining area and sun terrace look out across the infinity pool to the rugged mountains of the Rift Valley and the distant Northern Frontier District.
